Michigan's premier supplier of commercial, industrial and institutional doors, material handling equipment and other diversified products seeks a Sales Professional to call on and develop new accounts in SE Michigan territory. Experience in technical sales preferred.

We need an aggressive salesperson for this area. Someone who is not afraid to knock on doors, build relationships and close the sale! The ability to present and demonstrate our products is an important part of the position. The candidate should also be able to communicate with a very diverse group of people, from shop laborers to CEO's. This position primarily sells to end users of our products, through service, retrofit and replacement. It may include private negotiated sales to contractors. Potential Openings
Detroit Door & Hardware Company are always looking for high quality individuals to join our team.  Our employees work in a wide range of fields from accounting, marketing, sales to installation and warehouse.  We are always interested in hearing from qualified people for any position including;

Installers - Install overhead sectional and rolling steel doors, hi-speed fabric doors, and loading dock equipment. Loading and unloading of truck and verifying loaded material is correct. Must have a valid drivers license. Ability to climb ladders (up to 40 feet).  Position requires heavy lifting up to 100 lbs. Working knowledge of the construction industry helpful.  Ability to read blueprints.  Must have a mechanical aptitude.  Chauffeurs License and Medical Examiner’s Certificate.

Service Technicians – To service overhead rolling steel and sectional doors, electric operators, hi-speed fabric doors, and loading dock equipment. Knowledge of applications, repair  techniques and basic electrical repairs. Ability to climb ladders (up to 40 feet).  Two years experience in the construction industry helpful.  Chauffeurs License and Medical Examiner’s Certificate.

Project Managers - Develop and maintain relationship with contractor’s representative.  Handle all incoming calls and questions from contractor. Create all written correspondence related to the project. Review and check completed submittal package developed by Project Engineering group.  Note any discrepancies, errors, and questions and report them to project engineering for resolution. Determine material delivery dates and order all required material based on schedules developed with the contractor’s representative.  Provide all special sketches, templates, machining sheets, schematics, etc. to vendors.

Accounts Receivable - Responsible for day-to-day correspondence with customers relating to credit and collection activities.  Prepare daily deposits. Experience with AIA billing, knowledge of lien laws and an understanding of the construction industry helpful. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.  Very detail oriented.

Sales Support - Provide support to Sales Consultants by typing proposals, communicating with customers.  Candidate must have knowledgeable in Microsoft Word and Excel.  Good typing skills, detail oriented, and ability to handle multiple tasks.

Contract Sales - Responsible for obtaining work from General Contractors for new construction projects.  Experience with reading and interpreting construction documents a plus.  Contract Sales people interact with architects, contractors, Construction managers and others.  Much time is devoted to “take-off’s” from blue prints, and preparing bids.  These positions are available in the following divisions:  Overhead Doors and Dock Equipment, and Automated Entrance Door Systems. Technical sales experience is required, door and/or loading dock industry experience helpful. 

Direct Sales - Responsible for obtaining work from end-users (including automotive and industrial accounts).  These sales positions require a sharp, persistent person who is not afraid to knock on doors.  Relationship building is a must, with a focus on customer service.  These positions are available in the following divisions:  Overhead Doors and Dock Equipment, and Automated Entrance Door Systems. Technical sales experience is required, door and/or loading dock industry experience helpful.
